Language Settings

Select the format of decimal numbers.

Specify the convention for denoting decimal numbers with respect to the decimal points and, optionally, thousands separators. The setting holds for the input of data, output of computations as well as the download of programs.

Note:

  • Internally, all computations are performed concisely and decimal numbers are transformed to rational numbers (fractions).
  • The setting also affects the feasible field separators for uploading data:
    • If German style is selected, the comma serves as decimal separator and cannot be used as term separator. In downloaded files, fields are separated by semicolons.
    • If the language format is set to International style, there is no thousands separator and the comma serves to separate terms. In downloaded files, fields are separated by commas.

The number format can be changed during a working session.

Language Settings

All numbers can be specified in fractions (e.g. 3/5) or as decimal numbers (e.g. 0.6). Decimal numbers are automatically transformed into fractions.

Depending on context, in both settings terms can also be separated by blanks, comments as well as the mathematical operators '+' or '-'.
